High School Education at the Upper Valley JVS

WHY CHOOSE UPPER VALLEY JVS?

NEW FRIENDS

One of the things JVS students like best about Upper Valley JVS is the opportunity to meet new friends from over fourteen school districts. In addition to new friends, JVS students give high ratings to:

  • Doing hands-on work they enjoy
  • Having excellent teachers at JVS
  • Learning skills in high-tech labs and a clean, air-conditioned building
  • Getting a head start on their careers
  • Being treated like adults

As one JVS student said, "It’s an opportunity like no other!"

JOB PLACEMENT (Career Advancement)

The Career Advancement Coordinator assists students who are looking for part-time or full-time jobs. Sample applications, resumes, and job search materials are available. Most job openings require specific skills. These openings are referred to the appropriate instructor for recommendations. The Career Advancement Coordinator works with area employers who are searching for employees. Upper Valley JVS offers free, lifetime job placement assistance to students and graduates.

EARLY PLACEMENT . . . THE $1600 BONUS!

Beginning second semester, all seniors who qualify can co-op, or attend school a half day and work a half day. To be eligible, seniors must have good attendance, above-average grades, and a good school citizenship record. Early placement seniors can (at minimum wage) earn over $1600 on school time and earn credits toward graduation! And, most JVS seniors make more than minimum wage.

GOOD GRADES/GOOD ATTENDANCE

Most students who attend JVS earn good grades and have good attendance because they like what they’re doing. JVS career technical programs are electives. Most students earn good grades in electives because they’ve chosen classes they enjoy.
